Sydney Smith graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina's School of Journalism & Mass Communications and was a visiting Politics and History student at University College Dublin. She consulted for the University of Pennsylvania-Internews "Strengthening Independent Media" project in Bosnia in April 2012. She interned on the copy desk at The State in 2007 and has written entertainment features, community news and columns for The Post & Courier.
