Australian Broadcasting Corp.'s Media Watch program apologized in early June to Angela Pearman, a newscaster, for accusing her in 1991 of  faking an interview with journalist John Lombard.

According to Media Watch, it is "now satisfied" she did interview Lombard.  The accusations against Pearman were made in a Media Watch segment in 1991, in a "20th anniversary special" in 2009, and on Media Watch's website.

Media Watch apologized stating:

"Ms Pearman did not, as Media Watch alleged, deceive her audience. Our belated apologies - better, I hope, late than never."

Media Watch noted that it accused other news casters of faking an interview, but didn't say if it was apologizing to those news casters as well.
