Ghana Institute of Journalism rector David Newton called for penalties against media outlets that don’t follow journalism standards.

Newton also advocated for the country’s journalists abide by journalism ethics at a recent media conference, according to The Daily Graphic.  The institute is a media training school that lists its “core values” as including “accountability with integrity,” its website states.

Ghana’s Institute of Public Relations set up the media networking conference, “Bridging the gap between Theory and Practical.”

The institite’s vice president Perry Ofosu said at the conference students must “be bold and assertive at all times and never compromise on the ethics of our profession.”
