An anonymous New York Jets player criticized news outlets, including the New York Daily News, that used anonymous sources to talk about the team, Metro reported.

The “prominent Jets player…who spoke on the condition of anonymity” commented that the quote “was made up or that was from an old story.”  Metro did quote one named person, owner Woody Johnson, in its article, “Jets feel anonymous quotes were made up: source.”  Johnson said in part: “Anonymous people don’t speak for the New York Jets. They really don’t.”

Deadspin’s report on Metro‘s post inaccurately attributed Johnson’s quote to “the anonymous player,” iMediaEthics notes.  iMediaEthics has written to Deadspin seeking a correction and will update with any response.
