Associated Press reporter Jon Krawczynski, who is being sued by referee Bill Spooner over a tweet, is defending himself in that lawsuit by claiming that his tweet is accurate, and therefore not defamatory, BizJournals reported.

Krawczynski tweeted comments suggesting that Spooner cheated in an NBA game.  Spooner responded that the reporter made the quotes up and said he was disciplined by the league over the tweet.

“The statements within the defendants’ challenged publication are true or substantially true and [Spooner] therefore cannot carry his burden of proving that the statements are false,” the AP and Krawczynski stated.
