The blog Tabloid Watch called out the UK Daily Express for incorrectly reporting statistics in an Aug 26 cover story.

The Express reported that ‘Immigration Soars 20% in a Year.”  However, according to Tabloid Watch, that 20% statistic is what UK’s net migration statistic is.

As evidence, Tabloid Watch cited the Office for National Statistics report.  Tabloid Watch noted that the Mail, the Mirror and the Independent also used the statistic incorrectly; however, the Express’s misuse was seemingly the least accurate.

The Mirror and Independent also “both used ‘net migration’ in the first sentence of their articles,” according to Tabloid Watch.
