Editor & Publisher published an essay by Rutgers journalism professor Allan Wolper criticizing the mainstream media for its heavy reporting on crimes before trial.

Specifically, Wolper called out the media’s coverage of Sofitel hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo’s accusations of sexual assault against Dominique Strauss-Kahn.  Citing headlines labeling Strauss-Kahn “Le Perv,” Wolper noted that even if charges hadn’t been dropped against Strauss-Kahn, media coverage still seemingly tainted any jury pool.
