Former UK journalist and a “police community support officer” Emma Smiter broke the law by leaking information from police computers to a journalist, the Guardian reported.

Smiter was sentenced to twelve months in jail after being found guilty of misconduct. She reportedly told the journalist the name of an alleged attempted murder victim. Smiter has denied leaking information.

The BBC reported that Smiter is a former reporter for UK’s The Welwyn and Hatfield Times.
