Is Bloomberg View a conflict of interest for New York mayor Michael Bloomberg? (Credit: Forbes, screenshot detail)

The New York Times noted that New York mayor Michael Bloomberg’s media company will start publishing opinion work, including “up to two editorials a day that channel the views of Mr. Bloomberg himself.”

The “op-ed project” is named Bloomberg View.

Bloomberg L.P.’s news division head, Matthew Winkler, noted that Bloomberg View ““certainly is a benefit to the founder of the company, the man.”

However, Winkler is quoted as saying  “I don’t think we’re going to wade into subject areas where there would be an appearance of a conflict or an actual conflict of interest,”
