UK blog Tabloid Watch spotted what it calls “churnalism” at the Daily Mail, the Mirror and the Express.

As Tabloid Watch explained, all three UK newspapers re-published the same quote from a woman named Caron Leckie and cited the same “survey” claiming “women don’t think it is acceptable to wear bikinis on the beach once they reach 47.”

The poll was taken by Diet Chef, a weight-loss company.

Tabloid Watch commented:

“So [Diet Chef] produce some survey results, send out a press release that’s copy-and-pasted into several newspapers – with the Mirror and Express generously putting it on their front pages – and then watch as their business gets lots of free publicity.”
