Here’s an ethics award iMediaEthics hasn’t heard of: The Joint Professions for Good and Institute for Business Ethics Writings Awards.

The awards are given by two groups based in the UK — Professions for Good, which advocates “fair access, profesisonal ethics & fact based policy amongst the UK professions,” and the Institute of Business Ethics –– a charity which promotes “high standards of business practice based on ethical values.”

The two groups gave two writing awards Jan. 13 to honor “the best academic and journalist writing on ethics and professional standards in business and public life,” according to a press release on the Professions for Good’s website.

According to the press release, the awards were “inaugurated in 2012, but undertaken in 2013.”   Each winner got “a cash prize of  £400.”

Winners are Financial Director magazine freelance writer Gavin Hinks and essayist Michelle Spiteri Bailey.

Hinks was awarded for his Nov. 2013 article “Corporate Wrongdoing is all connected.” The article addresses the UK phone hacking scandal and “how a culture of wrongdoing can arise in a business.”

Bailey was awarded “Best academic essay” for her essay “Ethics, Trust and Auditing – Conceptualising a Tripartite Framework.”
