A video blog from a man named Marc Pax “claiming to be an American gay rights activist” turned out to be a marketing hoax, The UK Telegraph reported.

The video was reportedly circulated on “a number of Israeli government websites,” but it was revealed by Palestinian blog Electronic Intifada as a marketing hoax and Pax was revealed as an actor. The New York Times reported that questions about the video blog’s legitimacy were raised when Electronic Intifada noted “it had suspiciously high production values.”

According to The Telegraph, Israeli government websites have since removed links to the video clip.
