The UK Daily Mirror violated an anonymous source agreement, the UK Press Complaints Commission ruled.

The Mirror’s Aug. 11 feature story, titled “The Baby Whisperer,”  reported on women helped with fertility problems by an acupuncturist.

While the newspaper’s freelance reporter promised source confidentiality and to call the woman by a pseudonym and not publish a photo of her, the article published her picture.

According to the PCC, the woman was interviewed by a freelance journalist and had her photo taken.  “The paper was unaware of any assurance in regard to the publication of the photograph,” the PCC reported. The Mirror reportedly took the photo down from the website, promised to not republish, and “offered to send a private apology'” to the woman.
