The International Business Times issued a correction, retraction and apology to Jonathan Rees after falsely claiming he is a murderer.

The July 12, 2011 story reportedly accused Rees, a News of the World private investigator, of murdering “his former business partner, Daniel Morgan.” The IB Times noted that it didn’t “contact Mr Rees before the article was published to check the allegations.” While there were charges against Rees, they “were in fact abandoned on March 11, 2011,” according to the apology.
