Yesterday, astronaut Neil Armstrong died.  NBC News wrongly reported that singer Neil Young died, according to Mediaite, which said NBC News “quickly corrected.”

The article in question now carries an “editor’s note” that reads:  “Editor’s note: An early headline on this story briefly misstated Neil Armstrong’s name.” Gothamist got a screenshot of the error on NBC News’s website.

National Review weighed in on the mistake writing: “That’s one small error for a writer, one giant error for an entire news organization.”
