A St. Louis communications professor advocates journalists don’t use anonymous sources, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which briefly wrote about book by professor Matt Carlson, in which the author argues for transparency and named sources. The book, On the Condition of Anonymity: Unnamed Sources and the Battle for Journalism, is an academic book and highlights five journalism case studies involving anonymous sources, including the very high-profile cases of Deep Throat and Valerie Plame.
“Carlson offers sensible prescriptions for less reliance on anonymous sources and for more transparency when they are relied upon by journalists,” the Post-Dispatch wrote.
