The Daily Mirror unpublished and corrected a July 20 article that misreported information from survey after a complaint to the UK Press Complaints Commission.
The survey reported that “23% of the 18- to 24-year-olds polled had been involved in their first crash within 6 months,” but the Daily Mirror inaccurately wrote that “1 in 4 young drivers have a crash in the first six months after passing their driving test.”
The Daily Mirror’s correction added:
“We should have made it clear that the survey was of drivers who had been involved in a crash.”
Full Fact, a UK “independent fact-checking organisation,” filed the accuracy complaint with the PCC.
