The UK Daily Star newspaper and Heat magazine apologized and paid damages to Garry Tweedy after wrongly claiming he “admitted on his Facebook profile that he had been to prison few times,” Tabloid Watch reported. Tweedy is the brother of Cheryl Cole.
According to the Daily Star’s apology, Tweedy “did not post this comment nor has he ever been charged or convicted of a criminal offense or been sent to prison.”
The false information came from a fake Facebook profile, according to the Guardian.
