Does Al Sharpton Know Endorsement Guidelines for MSNBC?

Al Sharpton, who was recently hired as an MSNBC host, reportedly told the Wall Street Journal he thought he could endorse political candidates despite his new job.

The Wall Street Journal reported  that Sharpton stated in an interview “I cannot write checks, but I can make endorsements if I choose.’

However, an MSNBC spokesperson, Lauren Skowronski clarified to the WSJ that Sharpton knows that MSNBC’s policy bans “employees from campaigning for candidates without prior consent from management.”  Shkowronski added that Sharpton has “agreed to adhere” to the policy.

Keith Olbermann, who has since left MSNBC, was suspended last year from the network for two days after it was revealed he had donated money to political campaigns. Likewise, Joe Scarborough was suspended last fall for two days for political donations.
