Former UK Times Journalist Arrested over 2009 Email Hacking of Police Blogger

British police arrested former UK Times reporter Patrick Foster late last month “related to suspected offenses under the Computer Misuse Act and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice…related to the ‘identification of previously anonymous blogger in 2009,'” according to the Guardian.

The Independent noted that he “is the 11th person to be arrested” in the UK police’s “investigation into breaches of privacy.”

The Guardian and the BBC indicated that was the outing of police blogger Richard Horton. As we have written, the Times of London‘s editor James Harding apologized in February at the UK Leveson Inquiry into press standards and practices for a Times‘ reporter’s hacking of Horton’s email address.

Horton filed a lawsuit against the Times of London in April over the hacking.
