Freelancer Fired over Occupy Wall Street Protest Photo

Caitlyn Curran was fired from her freelance web producer job at WNYC after being pictured at the Occupy Wall Street protest, New York City blog Gothamist reported. WNYC is a New York City public radio station.

In the photo, Curran was holding a sign that reads  “It’s wrong to create a mortgage-backed security filled with loans you know are going to fail so that you can sell it to a client who isn’t aware that you sabotaged it by intentionally picking the misleadingly rated loans most likely to be defaulted upon.”

After the photo went viral, Curran suggested she report a segment on WNYC about the incident, but her boss ended up firing her and accusing her of breaching journalism ethics, according to Gothamist.
