Globe and Mail Gets Public Editor

Canadian newspaper The Globe and Mail announced that it has “appointed its first public editor,” Sylvia Stead, according to J-Source.  The Globe and Mail is daily Canadian newspaper with the “second largest circulation” in Canada, according to Mondo Times.

According to Poynter’s Craig Silverman, Stead begins her role Jan. 23 and “primarily reports to” editor-in-chief John Stackhouse with “a dotted-line responsibility to the publisher.” Read more about Stead’s role here.

Stead has been with the newspaper since 1975 and currently is the newspaper’s associate editor, according to Poynter.
