ITV apologizes for Stormzy racist comments

UK broadcaster ITV apologized to rapper Stormzy for problems in its reporting on his comments about racism in the UK.

In Dec. 22 tweet, ITV News wrote, “Update: Yesterday we reported on an interview with Stormzy in an Italian newspaper who, when asked if the UK was a racist country, he said: ‘Definitely, 100%.’ We have now made this clear in the headline on our original story.”

ITV deleted a tweet and changed its headline. Stormzy criticized the ITV in a NSFW-tweet but said outlets “that are intentionally spinning my words for some click bait.”

The Huffington Post explained that Stormzy had been asked by Italian newspaper La Repubblica about racism in the UK and UK news outlets then misreported his comment. Stormzy said “definitely, 100%” UK is racist, but news outlets claimed he said the UK was “100 per cent racist.”
