Media Ethics Site, The Hoot, Watches Indian Media

We are on hiatus here at iMediaEthics, so today’s post is brief.

A media watchdog site in India, “The Hoot, Watching Media in the Subcontinent ” is worth a visit.

Published by the New Delhi Media Foundation since March 2001, The Hoot’s About Us page states: “The Media Foundation gives the Chameli Devi Award to an outstanding woman journalist every year since 1981. It was instituted by the family of the late Chameli Devi Jain who was among those who responded actively to Mahatma Gandhi’s call and participated in the Indian freedom struggle.”

Sections of the site include: Media Watch, Media Business, Community Media, Media Ethics, Media Freedom, Media Law and Policy.  “Issues in the Media” topics list include: Media activism, Media and Conflict, Media and Disabilty, Media Diversity and Media and Gender.
