New Social Media Guidelines for BBC

Earlier this month, the BBC announced its new social media guidelines, EditorsWeblog reported.

As EditorsWeblog explained, “In sum, the guidelines are in line with BBC’s earlier social media policies and, according to the guidelines, can be summarised as ‘don’t do anything stupid’.”

BBC staff are provided “different suggestions for personal and professional use,” which makes staff “relatively free to use social media.”

Staff are advised against announcing any political views so that staff isn’t considered biased or impartial.
