News International CEO Rebekah Brooks Doesn’t Know If UK Newspaper Paid Police?

Rebekah Brooks, the CEO of News International, indicated in 2003 that the Sun, where she is former editor, had paid police for information. But, she recently told Parliament that she didn’t know about any “specific cases” where the newspaper paid police, Journalism.co.uk reported.  Brooks reportedly said:

“My intention was simply to comment generally on the widely-held belief that payments had been made in the past to police officers.  If, in doing so, I gave you the impression that I had knowledge of any specific cases, I can assure you that this was not my intention.”
