News International to Pay Richard Horton after Email Hacking Lawsuit

News International paid Richard Horton £42,500 in settlement for his lawsuit over the Times of London’s hacking his email to identify him as an anonymous police blogger, the Guardian reported.

Horton sued for “breach of confidence, misuse of private information and deceit.” ABC News noted that Horton’s lawyer Mark Lewis commented on the settlement, saying “Although a substantial financial settlement has been achieved there is nothing that can undo the effect of the intrusion in the first place.”
