NPR Task Force Advises on Ethics

Current.org, a biweekly public media newspaper, reported that NPR’s ethics task force completed its recommendations for the public radio organization’s ethics code revisions.

Recommendations included that NPR “have its journalists phase out any long-term contracts for appearances on other media outlets, monitor those appearances more carefully and make clearer distinctions between reporting, analysis and commentary in its programming.”

The task force was created by NPR’s president Vivian Schiller following the firing of commentator Juan Williams.

See NPR’s current ethics code here.  According to Current, NPR intends to “draft the revised ethics code by spring.”
