Manchester United soccer player Ryan Giggs “likely” received “tens of thousands of pounds” by settling his News of the World phone hacking lawsuit, the Guardian reported.
According to the Independent, “There are still 46 active claims in this, the second wave of the litigation” against News International. We wrote in April when there was set of “nearly 50 new claims” of hacking.
In February of this year, all of the first set of phone hacking lawsuits were settled.
We wrote in February when Giggs dropped his anonymity injunction against the UK media naming him in claims that he had an affair with Imogen Thomas. We wrote in 2011 about Giggs’ battle to keep his name out of the press, despite it being circulated through social media, international media and Parliament.
