Julian Assange will be extradited to Sweden for questioning, CNN reported. As we wrote earlier this week, Assange appealed UK Supreme Court ruling calling for his extradition, but according to CNN, the Supreme Court “dismissed an application” for appeal after it ruled May 30 he was to be extradited.
Assange turned himself in to police back in December 2010 after the accusations of sexual assault led to a European Arrest Warrant for questioning. WikiLeaks’ Twitter account has been tracking how many days Assange has been under “detention without charge.” (Today, WikILeaks reported it has been 555 days.)
Assange can still “apply immediately to the European Court of Human Rights” for an appeal, CNN noted.
