Update: Inquirer Asks Site to Remove Plagiarism Charges

iMediaEthics wrote earlier this month about computer software news site the Inquirer, which defended itself against accusations of plagiarism by site SemiAccurate.  The Inquirer’s Madeline Bennett told iMediaEthics via e-mail that she hasn’t had any “further communication” with SemiAccurate since her post defending the site’s work.

Bennett included her e-mail response to SemiAccurate’s claims of plagiarism.  In the e-mails provided, Bennett wrote that the Inquirer  had done independent reporting on the story accused of plagiarism, including an e-mailed statement from chip company AMD to the Inquirer and the comment that AMD and the Inquirer’s reporter had a phone interview.  She called for SemiAccurate to “remove the reference to the Inquirer plagiarising” from their website.

iMediaEthics has written to AMD’s Jan Guetter to confirm Bennett’s statements. We will update with any response.
