The White House announced last month that it would review new ways to allow photojournalists to take pictures of the president during speeches. The practice of staging speech photos became well-known following Obama’s presidential speech announcing the killing of Osama bin Laden.
The Washington Post reported May 31 that the White House and the White House Correspondents’ Association has come up with its “new plan.” Instead of staging photo of presidential speeches after the speech, the White House will let “a single photojournalist” take pictures during the speech.
That journalist’s photo will be a “pool” for the rest of the news organizations. As the Washington Post reported, the White House wasn’t keen on allowing photographers during speeches in case the photographer’s noise interrupted the speech.
