MSNBC host Joy Reid apologized for her older blogposts that are continuing to resurface.
Controversial comments in blogposts that news outlets have found recently include a doctored picture of Sen. John McCain’s head on the Virginia Tech shooter and a post promoting a Sept. 11 conspiracy theory, CNN reported.
“There are things I deeply regret and am embarrassed by, things I would have said differently and issues where my position has changed. Today I’m sincerely apologizing again,” Reid said in a statement, according to Mediaite. “I’m sorry for the collateral damage and pain this is causing individuals and communities caught in the crossfire.”
She also commented on her “evolution on many issues and know that I’m a better person today than I was over a decade ago.”
MSNBC said in a statement, according to Mediaite:
“Some of the things written by Joy on her old blog are obviously hateful and hurtful,” the network said on Friday. “They are not reflective of the colleague and friend we have known at MSNBC for the past seven years. Joy has apologized publicly and privately and said she has grown and evolved in the many years since, and we know this to be true.”
In April, Reid apologized for homophobic blogposts found on her old blog; Reid said she thought the blogposts were fabricated but she didn’t provide any proof for that claim. Last year, Reid apologized for blogposts from 2007 to 2009 on her blog about then-Florida governor Charlie Crist.
