TIME Corrects Story to add Attribution after Complaint

TIME magazine corrected July 28 article after apparently lifting a quote and sentence from the New York Post’s story reporting about a New York City grocery store’s “man aisle.”  The TIME and Post articles both reported on an Upper West Side grocery store that is now featuring these “man aisles.”

Pedro Oliveira Jr., who wrote the New York Post’s July 26 article, tweeted July 29 to call out TIME for the lack of attribution.  He tweeted:

“Hey @TIMENewsFeed and @tepous: If you’re going to copy two full graphs from my Man Aisle story, may as well give me a contribution line, eh?”

TIME‘s July 30 correction reads:

“An earlier version of this article failed to attribute a quotation and passage to the New York Post, the original source of the story. TIME regrets the error.”

The article now carries two attributions to the Post.

We have written to TIME for more information and will update with any response. The New York Post’s Oliveira declined to be interviewed.
