As we wrote earlier this month, Barbara Walters apologized after leaked e-mails showed she pulled strings to try to get Sheherazad
Jaafari, an aide to Syria's president Bashar al-Assad, into Columbia University and a CNN internship.  Jaafari "helped set up" Walter's December interview of al-Assad.  According to Walters' apology, Jaafari didn't get either the academic or internship spot.

But, it turns out Jaafari did get accepted to Columbia University, the New York Times reported.

According to the New York Times, Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs associate dean Jeese Gale confirmed that "Jaafari was admitted to SIPA for the 2012 semester based solely on the submitted application materials."

The New York Times noted that Walter's apology wrongly said Jaafari wasn't accepted.
