If you find the Society of Professional Journalists' Code of Ethics a dry read -- or simply prefer to have your ethics served in rhyming couplets, a group of students at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism have just what you're looking for.

A video of the students (via Gawker) rapping the tenets of journalism ethics to the instrumental backbeat of Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" offers a refreshing take on the subject.

Not to be dismissed as a creative yet empty endeavor, these students cover all the bases, from pledging to "report with honesty" to shunning false parity, bribes, and kickbacks.

They also shed light on the changing nature of journalism ethics (and journalism school syllabi) mentioning a willingness to "embrace adaptability" and "utilize technology."

It's good to know that these issues are being addressed but, as the students rightly point out, ethics become much more complicated once you leave the protective halls of J-school.
