A journalism professor in the Philippines recommended bloggers follow journalism ethics standards and work as media watchdogs,  the Philippine Star reported.

The professor, University of the Philippines Diliman's Danilao Arao, noted there isn't a blogging regulatory group, but called for "self-regulation." He also said bloggers should be careful to disclose if they "earn money through ads on their blogs" or advertorials.

Arao recommended bloggers "observe the standard of accuracy, fairness, objectivity, and disclosure with regard to potential conflict of interest" in the Philippine media.
