Turkish newspaper Takvim intentionally published a phony interview with CNN chief international correspondent and anchor  Christiane Amanpour.

The fake interview quoted Amanpour as saying that “Everything is done for money.” It also claimed that Amanpour admitted she has “published the war live and biased” and that “no one can remain neutral in the Middle East,” according to a Google Translate.

Amanpour called out the interview, tweeting on June 18:

However, Takvim‘s reporter Mevlut Yuksel argued the story was “sarcasm,” Ninemsn.com reported.

The online and print versions of the interview did disclose the interview was a phony, Hurriyet Daily News reported. In print, the disclosure read:

“This interview is not real, but what you will read here is real.”

Online, the interviews said:  “Note: CNN, Travel Parks announced that the events of the world lies. We also made news with all due respect language understood by CNN. Fictitious interview with Christiane Amanpour Mevlut Yüksel .”

The fake article was promoted on the front page of Takvim‘s newspaper, the Huffington Post noted.  Check out below an image of that front page.

iMediaEthics is reaching out to Takvim to ask why it decided to publish the fake interview and will update with any response.

iMediaEthics wrote earlier this year about Falkland Islands newspaper The Penguin News and its fake interview with Argentine Foreign Minister Hector Timerman. That interview also disclosed that “Timerman did not himself supply this column’s content, but following his example, we decided to make it up anyway.”
