Media Bistro’s Fishbowl LA reported that in the media’s haste to report on the arrest of James Whitey Bulger, a man named Charlie Rosenzweig was incorrectly roped into the reporting.

Bulger, a “legendary Boston crime boss,” was arrested this week. But, CBS News and other media outlets incorrectly reported the alias that Bulger has been using.  Those news outlets reported that Bulger was using the name Charlie Rosenzweig, who was a neighbor’s father, Fishbowl LA explained.

In an interview with Rosenzweig’s son, Seth Rosenzweig, the Daily’s Hunter Walker reported  that Charlie Rosenzweig is his father “who lives on the East Coast.”

Walker tweeted that “Some media has incorrectly reported that ‘charlie rosenzweig’ was whitey bulger’s alias.”

CBS News, for one, still lists Rosenzweig as Bulger’s alias, and has not corrected. The Guardian also incorrectly reported Rosenzweig’s name and hasn’t corrected.  Discovery News also hasn’t corrected its inaccurate identification.
