Australian actor John Jarratt sued and then quickly dropped his suit against the Daily Telegraph and its reporter Jonathan Moran over his 2017 story, “Wolf Creek star in rape claim,” the Guardian reported.
Jarratt was accused in 2017 of raping a woman in 1976; the police pressed charges in 2018 and this summer, he was found not guilty, the Guardian reported.
iMediaEthics has written to Jarratt’s lawyer asking what he alleges was defamatory. We’ve also contacted the Telegraph‘s parent company, News Corp. Australia, and Moran. Moran referred us to News Corp. Australia’s spokesperson.
Jarratt announced his lawsuit in July; by mid-August, the Australian Associated Press reported Jarratt “abandoned” his lawsuit.
