Karl B. Rodney has admitted and plead guilty to misleading the US Congress, the Jamaica Observer reported.

Rodney is the CEO of the Carib News Foundation and the publisher of New York-based weekly newspaper Carib News.  He reportedly “for years arranged for members of the US Congress to attend business conferences in the Caribbean.”

While Rodney told Congress that the Carib News Foundation paid for transportation, lodging and meals for attendees of the conferences, it turns out “the foreign host country and a private corporation” footed the costs.  “Several major corporations, including American Airlines, AT&T and Verizon” are among those who backed the costs.
