UK newspaper The People apologized to singer Charlotte Church Nov. 27 for its Nov. 6 report claiming she “proposed marriage to Jonathan Powell at a boozy karaoke night.”

Interestingly, Tabloid Watch noted that during the Leveson Inquiry into press standards, Church indicated she wouldn’t be satisfied with a “normal run-of-the mill apology” and that she wanted to know “how it was this story was written and how there are quotes from Ms Church and her partner, given that this is all entirely fabricated.”

Church also questioned why the entirety of her statement rebutting the article was “totally ignored.”
