Blogger Anand Sharma criticized a Nepali TV station for its coverage of two school girls arrested for prostitution.  In an Oct 6 blog, Sharma wrote that the TV station, ABC TV, had been called out in online forums for “divulging too much information of the girl while dramatizing the issue.”

“The interviews with the girls don’t make much sense. And, the blurring on the faces of the girls were located in wrong places, multiple times. It looks more like advertising the call girls and their school,” Sharma blogged.  Sharma embedded the video in the blogpost here – one can see that while the girls faces are blurred at times, when the girls move, the blurring doesn’t cover their faces.

Sharma is based in Canada and has an assistant based in Kathmandu, Nepal, Sharma explained via e-mail to StinkyJournalism.  Sharma also provided links to two sites where ABC was criticized – Mysansar, a Nepali site (for which we cannot find an English  translation) and this forum, Sajha.

We’ve written asking Sharma more information about this story and will update with any response.
