The government of Nigerian state Ogun’s Information and Strategy commissioner Alhaji Yusuf Olaniyonu claims that an Aug. 9 Compass Newspaper’s article was “false” and libelous, the Nigerian Observer News reported.

The government previously had called for the newspaper to retract the article, which was about “the trip of Governor Ibikunle Amosun to Saudi Arabia,” the Observer News explained. As Scan News Nigeria added, the report claimed Amosun’s trip had “frivolous spending.”
