JonBenet Ramsey’s brother, Burke Ramsey, settled his libel lawsuit against CBS for its Sept. 2016 documentary The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey. The documentary looked into the unsolved death of JonBenet Ramsey, the child beauty pagaent winner who was murdered in 1996 at the age of 6.

National Public Radio noted “the final settlement amount was not disclosed.”

Burke Ramsey sued for $750 million in 2016, with his lawsuit stating, “The gist of The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey is that JonBenet’s brother, Burke Ramsey, killed his six-year-old sister.”

CBS told National Public Radio that “the case had been amicably resolved,” and confirmed that to iMediaEthics (“the case has been amicably resolved to the satisfaction of all parties”). Ramsey’s lawyer, Lin Wood, told iMediaEthics, “John Ramsey and Burke Ramsey have settled their defamation lawsuits against CBS to the satisfaction of all parties.”

Wood added that, “From a professional and personal viewpoint, I sincerely hope this is the last lawsuit I will ever have to file for a member of the Ramsey family. After 20 years of false accusations by the media and over 10 years since they were exonerated by Boulder authorities, John and Burke are entitled to a measure of peace in their lives.”
