MSNBC’s Chris Matthews apologized to Mitt Romney and his campaign Dec. 14 after MSNBC “showed an appalling lack of judgment” in airing a brief report claiming Romney’s slogan “Keep America American” was “a rallying cry for the KKK group,” MediaBistro’s TV Newser reported.

Matthews said “it was irresponsible and incendiary of us to do this and showed an appalling lack of judgment. We apologize, we really do, to the Romney Campaign.”
