Nigerian journalist and National Accord editor Olajide Fashikun has been arrested and accused of libel over his reports about the Nigerian Football Federation, CNN reported.

According to CNN’s report, Fashikun reported on a controversy concerning FIFA and  the Nigerian soccer organization.  He claimed that the FIFA president Sepp Blatter’s letter to Nigerian Football Federation’s Aminu Maigari is a phony.

Blatter won the top spot at the Nigerian organization last year “after his main opponent withdrew from the race.”  According to CNN, FIFA and Nigeria’s league have had a complicated past year because the Nigerian government planned to stop its team from competing temporarily, which FIFA called “government interference.”
