Sky News in Australia suspended commentator James Campbell for his comments suggesting politician Bridget McKenzie should kill herself.

Campbell, who is the political editor for the Herald Sun, said on Jan. 31, according to the Guardian: “I suspect that this has got a long way to run even if Bridget McKenzie eventually does the right thing and takes the bottle of whisky and the revolver into the room and practices her shooting on herself.”

Sky News host Tom Connell responded, “Uh, all right that’s pretty colourful, James.” The Guardian reported that McKenzie’s former chief of staff said Campbell called to apologize after the show.

iMediaEthics has written to Campbell and Sky News Australia.
