As StinkyJournalism previously wrote, the woman who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault earlier this year filed a libel lawsuit against the New York Post over its reports alleging she was a prostitute.

The woman, Nafissatou Diallo, was unnamed in most of the press until she revealed her identity in interviews with ABC News and the Daily Beast.

Reuters reported Sept. 23 that the New York Post has called for "part of the libel lawsuit" to be dismissed.  Specifically, the Post wants the court to axe "Diallo's claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress."

As Reuters explained, the Post's August 31 motion states that New York requires consistent, harassing and abusive conduct" for the charge of emotional distress to be upheld, while the Post states it just published stories. The criminal case against Strauss-Kahn was dismissed in August, however Diallo has filed "a civil suit...seeking unspecified damages," according to CrainsNewYork.
