The Associated Press retracted a story after wrongly reporting former film producer Harvey Weinstein pleaded guilty to sexual abuse charges.

In a retraction notice saying a story had been removed, the Associated Press said:

“NEW YORK (AP) — The Associated Press has withdrawn one of its stories about Harvey Weinstein’s court appearance Monday. It said Weinstein had pleaded guilty, but he pleaded not guilty. A substitute story will be sent shortly.”

iMediaEthics has written to the Associated Press to ask how the error occurred and how long the inaccurate post was published before retraction.
